Connecting Rod

Description
In a reciprocating piston engine, this connecting bar, also known as connecting rod, connects the piston to the crank or crankshaft. Together with the crank, they form a simple mechanism that converts reciprocating motion into rotating motion. Connecting bars may also convert rotating motion into reciprocating motion.

Features
The forging process forces the grain into the shape of a connecting rod, resulting in a superior fatigue life. The rod cap is forged separately so that the grain runs perpendicular to the load forces, which strengthens the connecting rod. This connecting bar also includes higher content of nickel and chrome, which increases the strength and fatigue life without making the connecting rod brittle.
